Explainer videos have been around for quite some time now. They started to dominate majority of video sharing sites a few years ago. They were new, exciting to watch and easy to understand given the narration and clear brand communication. But just like any other industry, customer expectation rises and the market gets cluttered with competitors who just follow what everyone else does and that’s making an affordable (which is obviously amateurish) explainer video.explainer-video-production-tips-and-guide

But here is the problem, when everybody is making the same type of poor looking videos, standing out of the crowd would become a lot harder than before.  Of course, the cost might  be a major concern but it has been proven  that spending on an expensive explainer video yields enormous return on investment and long lasting results than opting for a friendly bill which is somewhere around 500-2000 USD per minute.

To understand this better, let’s talk about how an explainer video is made. Your production team has to do a proper research about your brand/ product/ business to come up with solutions that make sense. This cannot be done overnight. It requires days to digest all the resources to write a creative script that is not boring yet not missing any important details.

Once this is done, they have to create the characters and develop a unique style that fits your brand guide line, followed by the storyboard to illustrate the scenes from beginning until the end, and the last step is the animation. Rushing any of the production stages above will affect the quality of the final result.  The animating stage is the most time consuming and expensive part of the process. Skilled animators expect to be paid very well otherwise they don’t even bother taking on the job.

Do you think all these can be done within the affordable range?

Of course not.  If any individual or studio promises you a friendly bill, think twice. Even if their portfolio rocks, doesn’t mean you are going to get a similar quality at such rates.

Do yourself a favor and search Youtube for explainer videos. You will find 80% of explainer videos  lacking aesthetic and sophisticated elements. Poorly drafted and barely watched by real audience. Ask yourself, do you want to add another video to the same list where no one is willing to watch and share? Or do you want to stand out among your competitors and increase conversion rate?

The bottom line is, if you wish to enjoy the benefits of an explainer video that creates real buzz and brings in sales, you need to wait until your budget allows you to order one.  A short sighted solution would only mean; waste of your money, time and resources.

At the end of the day, in the battle between quality and quantity, quality always wins.
